The picture of the kit shows the interface cable included. It is not included.

Whats more, if your Clarion radio has a xm dongle hanging from the back, all

you need is the xm mini tuner and the antenna. Thats it. The protocol interface

module is not used (I couldnt program it anyway, radio CX 400 not in list).

Other than these few snags, Im pleased with the xm and radio equipment.

Ok, so this is the product that I needed and it fit like it was supposed to. I get my XM through my stereo. Problems are just how horrible the instructions are. I believe that they needed to do a much better job. The programing is a hassle, but just follow the instructions the other reviewer left below and you will get through it. You do need to know how to use a computer a little, but if your installing this yourself, I think you should be able to follow those instructions.

The other thing missing from the instructions is that the yellow and black wires coming out of the required adapter cable need to be hooked up to power and ground (I’m using Audiovox Car CNPALP1 Alpine Adapter Cable for NP2000UC). Nowhere in either instruction manual does it even mention these wires! I had to do internet searches to make sure that this was the problem when it didn’t turn on (since I didn’t hook these wires up to anything).

So, if this is the product you NEED, then it does work and you will get your XM if all is done properly. Just don’t expect to rely on the instructions provided by Audiovox! They need to fix their manuals before selling the product!

I purchased this product to work with a Kenwood KDC-X692. When I went to the Audiovox website to download the software for this unit, it would not allow me to do so. I then realized that the software only works on computers running Windows XP. It will not work with Windows Vista. Audiovox really needs to get it together and get software that will run on Vista. I ended up using a friends computer to get the software and it downloaded without a hitch. Ultimately the product works great.

This unit hooked right up to my JVC head unit with no problems, works like a charm, easy to install and get up and running. The other review for the product must have been from the technologically challenged! You will need a Windows XP computer to make this unit work!!!

I never have written a review before but I feel that this is needed. My XM DIRECT 2 had a couple of problems. It would have a bad background hiss that I found to be a common problem found at several forums. I didn’t feel like exchanging it for fear that I would just get another hiss unit.

It also sounded very muddy to me. Which was another reason to get rid of it. I replaced this unit with a discontinued Alpine unit. It is too bad the FCC stopped Alpine from making such a great unit, no hiss, no muffled noise. The only problem now is that the Alpine unit lets me hear the clarity of the horrible sound that is satellite radio.
