Well when I have an electronic that connects to another i try to get them from the same brand..in this case SONY…this is my setup:

    RADIO; SONY mex 5700u

    SPEAKER; rear- Sony XSGTX6930 6×9

front- Infinity capa 6×8…and this amp…the sound that am getting is crystal clear with a solid bass, great mids and highs…i don’t need a SUB cuz the rear speakers are getting a lot of power from the amp and deliver a loud clean and dry BOOM without distortion!. the amp doesn’t overheat looks really good and it has many ways to adjust the desire sound.

Everyone who has listen to my stereo ask me if i had a SUB in the trunk…well its just the amp and rear speakers…

….overall GREAT AMP! for a four speakers set up!

Clearly it’s not the highest end amplifier on the market, but for the price it’s worth it. I almost settled for an Alpine amp, yet later learned that the base boost was either an on or off feature, and I wanted variable bass boost. I found this Sony Xplod xm-zr704 after some searching on Amazon. It seemed pretty decent so I researched it further and purchased it. It arrived quickly with the Super Saver Shipping.

    CHANNELS:

If you don’t know what the difference between a mono channel and a 4 channel is, it’s a very simple thing to learn.

Mono channel – 1 channel to power 1 speaker, usually a mono amp powers a sub-woofer.

2 Channel – 2 channel amps seem to be the most common amplifiers out there. A two channel amp can power 2 speakers (like both rear or both front but not one front and one rear speaker)

3 channel – Likely a 3 channel amp would power two speakers and a sub.

4 channel (LIKE THIS AMP) Powers 4 speakers. (both front and both rear)

If you get a 5 Channel it can power 4 speakers and a sub.

Note though that the more channels you use the more you may need to spend on wiring and necessary materials.

    INSTALLATION

Note, for those of you first time amplifier buyers, be aware that the amplifier DOES NOT come with all the necessary wiring. Amplifiers usually do not come with the wiring, and they are another expense you must add in. And if want to use all four channels instead of just two, you may need to add some RCA adapters, which will cost more, varying on what you buy. Overall I spent about: $140 – $180 extra dollars on some decent wiring and all the extra adapters / materials I needed to put all 4 channels to use.

I got my amplifier installed professionally (NOT BEST BUY) and that’s what I recommend you do if you have any doubt on messing up your car. Getting it installed can be fairly pricey varying on where you get it done. Car audio shops have all the necessary wiring and materials you need if you don’t have them already. Yet if you purchase from them, don’t be shocked if that adds to the bill significantly.

    CONCLUSION

After a long day of waiting for my car to get my car back from the audio shop, I was very pleased with the results. It made my stock speakers in my 2002 accord sound much better. The sound quality is now clearer, sharper, has more bass. Overall it improved my stock sound to something much greater. IT WAS WORTH IT!
