I purchased one of these subs to install in a friends’ pontoon boat. I always go by specs first, then price, then name brand last. The power handling and free-air installation flexibility of this unit sold me, the price is reasonable, and the Alpine name and legendary build quality are just icing. I mounted this 10″ sub in a cutout of the fiberglass helm station with the amp inside and the deck above, as this is the only real space available on a pontoon, and let me tell you, along with 2 pair of Legacy outdoor enclosures with a Pyle 2000w amp pushing it all this setup ROCKS! I was skeptical about what kind of sound I would get with everything being exposed but I would go with this combo any day- it rivals some car installs I have done for sound quality and volume. Now I’m looking for an excuse to get a couple more of these subs to put somewhere else.
