I have been in the retail hi-fi business in one incarnation or another for 30-years, including very high end 12-volt stuff in a previous life. I slapped a set of the 5.25-inch components in my off-road 96 cherokee and man they are really very very good despite driving them with the power from the head unit instead of any outboard amps. Now granted the head unit is a mosfet amp design but still..sheesh. Highly recommended as an excellent performer for the dollars involved. Easy install too.

AWESOME SPEAKERS! I read in a Auto & Sound mag that HiFonics is made by MB Quart, and the 450Wmax/ 90Wrms power ratings were awesome so I tried HiFonics to complete my system. These HiFonics Zeus 5.25 components replaced a set of Pioneer 5.25″ 3-ways that had a nasty crackle at 20 watts. What a difference! NO crackle even w/ the gain on my Sony amp turned to max. These HiFonic Zeus take everything my Sony amp throws at it – no tweeter crackle or distortion. The crossover design is strange and oddly oversized but I managed to find a good mounting location inside the rear door panels. Crossover has selectable tweeter frequencies (+3db,0db,-3db)which works awesome in my particular application. I get more than enough highs out of my 6.75″ components up front so I chose the -3db tweeter setting for these in the rear accentuating the speakers’ midbass which compliments the 10″ kicker sub in a sealed encloser in my Dynamat’ed trunk. These ROCK!!! At 90 watts RMS power rating – you’ll be hard pressed to find better 5.25″ components. I’m very tempted to replace the Pioneer 6.75″ components up front w/ the HiFonic Zeus 6.5 components. Also, there are connections on the speakers to light up the speakers. I couldn’t connect them w/out having to rewire my vehicle so I left them out but I bet they look SIIICK! EXCELLENT EXCELLENT SPEAKERS!!!!
