I bought these along with Boston Acoustics SL65’s to go in my PT Cruiser. You need to dremel out the hole a tad, mostly the bottom of the hole, but they then drop in. I got the setup without planning, and without knowing much about high end sound quality in car audio. I eventually plan to have a 3way setup up front – right now its 80ish HZ and up on the SL65’s, and 600hz or so on up for these. I should really have the SL65’s bandpass – and cut it off around 750, leaving the S35’s at 600 and up.

Excellent sound quality for the price. You MUST filter out just about everything below about 500hz – or you’ll hit this speakers xmax (excursion limit). It’s BAD when that happens.

I mated these with a Nakamichi PA-300 (30W x 2) – through an audiocontrol EQX. I also put 82uf of cap as a highpass filter. These speakers don’t respond well to clipped amp output! You’ll hear a terrible high pitched ringing, and sibilance on sssss’s. Turn your amp down, or your processor output a bit. Once EQ’d and RTA’d – the speakers are absolutely awesome. Very crisp accurate highs without breaking up, loud volume, incredible cymbals and vocals.

I bought these speakers to upgrade my factory Bose system door “twiddlers” in my Corvette. As the factory door twiddlers are powered directly from the head unit and are not processed through a separate Bose amplifier, I was able to easily change them out without any worries. The sound difference is noticeable, and an improvement, but not a drastic night and day difference. Nevertheless, sound quality WAS improved (not too harsh in the upper frequencies)and for the price, was worthwhile. I took the opportunity to add a pair of tweeters at the same time, and when those were powered on, the improvement in sound quality was vastly improved, and made the Bostons sound a lot better than they did on their own. Overall, I was impressed with the sound and construction of these Bostons, and would recommend them to be at least considered in the mix if someone were looking to improve their car audio system. They are also an attractively appearing speaker, and the mounting depth should work with pretty much any vehicle. In any other vehicle they may have warranted a full 5 stars, but I gave them 4 because the acoustics in the Vette is a little lacking with the door speakers firing directly into the thighs of the occupants, and thus they seem a bit muddled, although that is not really a fault of the speaker as it is the design of the vehicle. Neverthless, that is the only way you get to listen to them (or any replacement speaker) mounted up, unless you build a separate enclosure. Bottom line: a fine set of speakers with good frequency response, good looks, and ease of install.

Bought these speakers to replace the worn out stock infinity dash speakers in my Plymouth Prowler. By them self they, being just 3.5 inches, can not reproduce a full spectrum of sound but added in to a system with other larger speakers they certainly enhance the high end. These speakers are providing clear, crisp top end in my setup.

I changed out the front door speakers in my 2008 corvette after reading about the tremendous difference between these speakers and the cheap stock ones. I can honestly tell no difference at all. I know there should be one, and I wish I heard it, but I do not.

I bought these to upgrade the factory speakers in my 2008 Saab 9-3 with the standard 150W audio system. The sound is much brighter and pleasing to listen to. They were easy to install and fit in the same location as the factory speakers.
